Why did the chicken cross the road? It’s a question that’s been asked for as long as roads have existed. Finally…after much contemplation and much mental anguish, I finally have it. The answer to one of the most asked question in the world - "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

Let it be known, you read it here my friends. It is I - Esmond who has single-handedly taken on the age old question and has emerged victorious!

Why did the chicken cross the road you ask? I believe the question that precedes this one is the question, "What was the chicken doing at the road in the first place?" From this question, we can hypothesize that the chicken was not supposed to be there. For where would one find chickens? In barns or farms f course. Which leads me to believe that the chicken, formerly from a farm has escaped.

From here we can further deduce, that the farmer is in hot pursuit of this little fowl. I have come to this conclusion because for a mere chicken to warrant such attention of being the subject of such a famous question, the chicken must have been something special. So now, we can understand why the farmer is after his precious bird.

Of course, now we come to point at which the question now arises, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Since we know that the farmer is in pursuit of the chicken, we can infer that the chicken crossed the road (when it came to it) as a direct consequence of the farmer’s chase.

At this juncture you may ask," Why didn’t the chicken just hasten ALONG the road but instead went ACROSS it?" Let me point out to you the fact that chickens aren’t the smartest creatures in the world. What with all the pressure the chicken had to endure, it’s no wonder it had to go across.

And that my friends is why the chicken crossed the road.
